Despite a small group, the Kaslo Youth Spring Film Camp was a success once again. The three keen filmmakers who partook in the camp took full advantage of the smaller class size to get maximum camera and editing time. Many thanks to Betty at Taqueria del Corazon for being such a gracious interviewee and for the fabulous lunch. While the group spent the majority of their time working with the cameras, they completed the weekend with a short final film.

I was lucky enough this past weekend to teach a group of 8 youngsters (ages 11-14) from Kaslo BC the art of documentary filmmaking. With the cooperation of Aaron at Buddy’s Front Street Pizzeria, the students learned about planning a film, conducting interviews, operating DSLRs, and editing in Final Cut. Â In just 6 hours from start to finish, our two groups produced these two short films:
